CABINET APPROVES COUNCIL PROPOSALS
In the midst of political crisis triggered by two union ministers-one relating to bribery in top appointments in the Railway and the other relating to making changes in the affidavit filed by the CBI in the coal blocks allocation case-the cabinet approved several decisions signalling its intent of moving ahead with key proposals.The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on May 9, 2013 approved the proposal regarding revival of five closed units of the Fertilizer Corporation of India Ltd. (FCIL) at Sindri, Talcher, Ramagundam, Gorakhpur and Korba. Revival of closed units will ensure larger availability of indigenous fertilizers in the country.
Port at Sagar Island
The CCEA also approved the proposal of setting up of the new major port at Sagar Island in West Bengal and another at Andhra Pradesh through the Public Private Partnership (PPPs) mode.
