CHINA FINALISES NEW CABINET, BRINGS AN END TO TRANSITION GOVERNMENT
China on March 16, 2013 appointed new finance, commerce, defence and foreign ministers as part of the country's State Council or cabinet, thus formally bringing to an end the transition in government that began in November 2012.
Li Keqiang was earlier on March 15, 2013 elected as country's Premier, who heads China's State Council or Cabinet. He replaced Wen Jiabao. Former foreign minister, Yang Jiechi, was appointed to the post of State Councillor. China appointed Lou Jiwei as the country's new finance minister and Gao Hucheng as new commerce minister.
Parliament also voted in Xu Shooshi as head of the state economic planning body, the National Development
and Reform Commission. The new foreign and defence ministers are Wang Yi and Chang Wangquan respectively. The new Vice-Premiers appointed were Zhang Gooli, Liu Yandong, Wang Yang and Ma Kai.
